Our Location
Our seaplane base in Armstrong is located at the end of
Highway 527, 145 miles north of Thunder Bay in Ontario. You
can drive directly to our seaplane base.

Commercial
flights are available to Thunder Bay. Air Canada , Northwest Airlines and Porter Airlines
flights from most US cities can be arranged through various travel
agencies who specialize in special "fish" fares. When
calling you must tell them you are flying to Thunder Bay and plan
to visit a Mattice Lake Outfitters lodge. Please
contact us for more information.
Armstrong
has a 4530 foot asphalt strip for those arriving on private
aircraft.
We have
2 overnight guest cabins at the seaplane base for those arriving
the day prior to flying to the lodge.
Flights
To The Lodge
You
will fly to and from the lodge in one of our deHavilland Beaver or Turbo Otter seaplanes. This is a very pleasant flight lasting approximately
25 minutes during which time you will have the opportunity to view
the spectacular scenery Wabakimi Park has to offer and possibly
see moose feeding in the smaller lakes along our route. Incidentally
the deHavilland Beaver which was first built in Canada in 1948 is
considered one of Canada's 10 largest engineering achievements.
Baggage
Allowance
We allow 150 lbs. of baggage per person. Any overages are flown
in later at no extra charge. All gear should be packed to accommodate
air travel. Small containers are better than large or heavy ones
that are difficult to load in airplanes. Many of the very large
fishing rod tubes will not fit in the aircraft baggage compartments.

Communications
There is a radio/telephone on site to ensure your safety and
to allow you to request items you wish to be flown in that you may
have forgotten or are running short of. Satellite phones are also
available on a rental basis. |
